Writing Resource Center
|
The Writing Resource Center, located on the second floor of the Jane
Bancroft Cook Library, inside the InfoCommons, serves as an extension of
the classroom.
Our director and staff of Student Writing Assistants (SWAs) are trained to work with students at all levels on writing organization, content, and mechanics. We can help you brainstorm for ideas, form a thesis, and back up your opinion in a paper, adapt material for various audiences, even help you overcome writer’s block. The WRC is also the place to go to help organize your thoughts or to make your writing flow smoothly and correctly. We are also available for a final run-through with an objective reader who can help you identify everything from grammar mistakes to faulty mechanics. Students come to the center by recommendation of faculty members or through self-referrals and are able to gain help with rhetorical, stylistic, and grammatical concerns that arise in their writing. What We Do
One way to understand who we are and what we do is to contrast ourselves with what we’re not: we’re not editors or proofreaders; we don’t pretend to have all the answers. Our hope is that, working together, we’ll arrive at some solutions.
