Student Life

A Message from the Dean of Students

Welcome to the Student Life pages, where you can find a host of resources about life at our small liberal arts college.  The three principal areas for which I am responsible are Counseling and Wellness, Residential Life & Food Service, and Student Activities & Community Engagement. As Dean of Students, my job is to ensure that your life outside the classroom is creative, intellectually stimulating, healthy and comfortable.

As I’m sure our current students would agree, it's impossible to capture the essence of life at New College through the written word, or even through pictures. You really have to live here to experience the day-to-day heartbeat of our community. Our faculty is amazing, our curriculum adventurous, and our bay front location breathtaking. Equally important are the friendships you forge, the concern you show for your community, and the activities you choose to develop body, mind and spirit. At New College, you can stretch your intellect with a host of curricular and co-curricular related activities --some formal, some informal. You can get an early start on a lifetime of giving back to your community. Or, you can simply have fun, no matter what flavor that takes.

Our Student Affairs office strives to create innovative, creative programs that enrich your experience here and help you to grow as a person. At New College, we consider ourselves a true community.  As one student said to me recently, “You rarely see someone passing by that you don’t know – it’s more like a family than some huge, intimidating school.”  My door is always open to students.

Whether you are a current student or one who is interested in someday attending New College, I invite you to explore these pages and to discover how rich and rewarding life on our campus really is.
