Learning Beyond the Classroom
At New College what goes on outside the classroom is as important as what happens inside.
You can join an archaeological dig, intern at a world-class museum, instill a love of science in elementary students and assist in the pathology lab at a leading Alzheimer’s research center.
Shadow a physician, conduct manatee research at a leading marine laboratory, submit a film for discussion at the Filmmaker’s Forum, or guide visitors on the Myakka State Park tree canopy walkway.
New College students also know what it means to commit to a cause. Each year, our students participate in hundreds of community activities and service projects – some college-sponsored, others initiated and run by students.
They knit blankets for cancer patients, help underprivileged high-school students prepare for college, collect books for African schools, and raise awareness of violence against women in children. There’s even a club called “Random Acts of Kindness.” Check out a complete list of clubs and organizations on campus.
